RONGAI ROUTE DESCRIPTION
Transfer to Machame gate for park formalities, and proceed to Umbwe gate, begin the climb through the magnificent forest. Overnight at Umbwe Cave (2900m / 5-7 hours trek)
It’s the Second day of the journey. today will trek across the rain forest and into savannah forest and volcanic rock draped with lichen beards to the Shira 1 Camp from where there are often views of Kibo Peak floating on the clouds.
Day three, start trekking towards your second high altitude camp Kikilewa Camp (3,630 m)3 km 1.5 – 2 hours Alt 4300m Dinner / overnight Mawenzi hut camp.
The trek begin and let us Walk in towards Mawenzi Tarn Camp. The route we have is brief but steep ascent up green slants which is compensated by a eminent view of the Kenyan fields to the north.
Day five may be a long but progressive climb, we take off our campsite and cross the lunar leave of the ‘saddle’ between Mawenzi and Kibo After one or two hours trekking, reach this marvelous put, with the summit of Kilimanjaro within the foundation and our path to the tall camp extended out before our eyes. Upon coming to our camp the leftover portion of the day will be went through resting in planning of the ultimate climb after a really early night!
Passing the Hans Meyer Cave at 5220m, the climb is slowly going upwards. At dawn, you’ll reach Gillman’s Point (5681m) the crater rim of Kilimanjaro where the sun will gradually begin to warm up the arrive. You’ll have soon forgotten the cold of the night and after a further hike of 1-2 hours, you may reach Uhuru Peak at 5895m.
Descend from Horombo Hut to Marangu Gate the trek covers about 18km, the Descend is about 1740m (5700 ft) high. After complete all formalities the its the time to say goodbye.
