Mt. Kilimanjaro is the highest mountain in Africa, the highest free standing mountain in the world, and one of the biggest volcanoes ever to burst on the earth’s surface. The base of this gigantic mountain measure 50 x 80 km and the outstanding features are the three major volcanic peaks, Shira in the western (4260 m), Mawenzi in the Eastern side (5260 m) and the snow capped Kibo is the center (5895 m). For many, Mount Kilimanjaro represents the extreme once-in-a-lifetime individual challenge – a difficult but profoundly fulfilling 6 to 8 days journey up to Uhuru Point (the real summit) or to Gillman’s Point (on the lip of the crater).

Marangu Route
The oldest and most favored routes on Kilimanjaro, best known as Tourist route

The best alternative route to Marangu Route. Its the easiest route especially for beginners
